Required CredentialsLicenses
  • Active Ohio Medical License REQUIRED
Certifications
  • BLS REQUIRED
  • ACLS Preferred (especially for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy support)
Key Clinical Duties
  • Provide comprehensive wound care management, including:
    • Treating skin reactions & preventing skin breakdown
    • Managing vascular, pressure, and diabetic ulcers
    • Initiating preventive measures
    • Applying/overseeing topical therapies
    • Assessing & treating draining wounds and fistulae
    • Educating patients & caregivers on wound care and ulcer prevention
    • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) supervision
    Types of Wounds Seen
    • Acute wounds (all healing phases)
    • Surgical wounds (intentional operative wounds)
    • Traumatic wounds (scrapes, punctures, tears, burns)
    • Non-healing surgical wounds
    • Ulcers: arterial, pressure, venous, diabetic
    • Chronic venous insufficiency
    • Pilonidal cysts
    • Gangrene
    • Radiation injury
    • Burns
    Common Treatments Used
    • Bioengineered skin products
    • Debridement
    • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
    • Incision & drainage
    • Negative pressure wound therapy (wound VAC)
    • Post-surgical incision management
    • Skin grafting
    • Unna boot
    • Total contact casting
