Locums Opportunity OB HospitalistLocation: Chesapeake, VirginiaSchedule & Shifts
  • Hospitalists: 24-hour shifts
  • Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs): 12-hour AM shifts
  • Backup Coverage:
    • Hospitalists backup midwives
    • CNMs backed up by in-house hospitalists
    • Private physicians backup hospitalists
  • In-house Anesthesia: Yes
Clinical Responsibilities Hospitalists
  • Provide GYN coverage: Yes
  • Perform circumcisions: Yes
  • First Assist: Not required (contracted surgical assists available)
  • Backup midwives: Yes
  • Backup family practice: No
  • Deliveries (estimated monthly): 28 per hospitalist
  • Total hospital deliveries/month: 214
  • High-risk deliveries: 37.2%
  • OBED visits/day: 5.6
  • Surgeries/day: 0.1
  • Inpatient visits/day: 1.4
  • MFM: Available by phone
Clinical Responsibilities CNMs
  • Triaging and deliveries shared with physicians
  • Teaching: None
  • First Assist for C-section: Not required
