Job Description
A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their staff as their new Nurse Leader (RN) - MRDD. In this role, the Nurse Leader (RN) - MRDD will be responsible for ensuring that quality healthcare is being administered to all of the organization's Residential Program participants.
Responsibilities:The Nurse Leader (RN) - MRDD will:
- Function as a coach, collaborator, facilitator and support system for Residential Nurses
- Collaborate with RN Educator to ensure AMAP training, certification and supervision of AMAPs within assigned cluster
- Provide orientation training of newly hired Nurses, as assigned
- Function as the Residential RN for RN vacancies or leave of absences in assigned cluster
- Ensure medical department regulatory compliance by oversight of treatment and documentation; monitor compliance of medical systems within assigned cluster
- Function as the Hospital Discharge Planner for hospitalized individuals in assigned cluster
- Initiate Surgical Review Committee (if indicated), conduct ongoing collaboration with hospital personnel, visit hospitalized individuals regularly, and assist RNs with discharge training of all staff
- Work closely with agency QA team to ensure a functional, effective QA system and ensure regulatory compliance and successful DQA audit outcomes
- Participate and follow through on recommendations from committees as assigned (i.e., Training Committee, IRC, BRC and Directors Committee)
- Assume basic responsibilities during RN vacancy to include report writing, incident reporting and attendance at review meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Passion for working with the OPWDD population
- 5+ years of Nursing experience; 3+ years of experience in the ID/DD field
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Previous experience in Training and/or Quality Assurance
- Knowledge of OPWDD regulations
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
