Job Description
A health services network in New York City is currently seeking an experienced, licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their staff in Brooklyn as their new Assistant Vice President of Nursing, Maternal Child Health & Pediatrics. In this role, the Assistant Vice President of Nursing (RN), Maternal Child Health & Pediatrics (RN) will be responsible for providing clinical oversight of nursing practice of Labor & Delivery, Maternity Services and Children's Hospital (NICU, PICU and PEDS) to ensure high quality, effective patient care and effective use of labor and non-labor resources.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant Vice President of Nursing, Maternal Child Health & Pediatrics (RN) will:
- Direct the development of short- and long-term goals and objectives for the department
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards for patient services and monitor reporting units for compliance
- Select and develop effective leadership teams of clinical managers and professional staff as well as direct the development of the departmental operating, capital and program budgets, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines
- Select, hire, orient, and supervise Nurse Managers, Assistant Nurse Managers, CNMs, NP, PAs, Child Life Services staff, and all frontline staff in the department
- Initiate disciplinary action, including terminations; make recommendation for training opportunities and staff promotions
- Conduct divisional and leadership staff meetings to review patient care issues, communicate changes in policies/procedures and implement corrective action
- Ensure that quality patient care is maintained; analyze trends of incident reports, documentation of care, care planning and rounds
- Provide and communicate information to members of the healthcare and senior management teams on a variety of clinical/administrative matters; make recommendations to management on acquisition of new products/techniques
- Act as liaison with medical staff, and other departments
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adhere to all applicable
- Perform other duties, as needed
- 8+ years of related Nursing experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Maternal-Child and/or Pediatric background
- Previous experience in a Leadership and/or Supervisory role
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
