Job Description
The Columbus Organization is expanding it's team of physicians in the great State of California! Immediate opening for a full-time Pediatrician to serve a regional center in the San Francisco/San Mateo area of California. Great work environment, Monday-Friday scheduling, no weekends and no on-call.
Role and Responsibilities:
Provide medical evaluations as part of the assessment process to determine eligibility for potential clients and provide consultation on medical matters to Social Workers and other staff in their ongoing efforts to serve clients.

Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific community resources.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to interpret issues/symptoms clients share and ability to interpret medical terms, symptoms, and diagnoses into a language understood by case managers and other staff
- Ability to make correct medical decisions, at times, with incomplete information
- Ability to bean accurate observer of (developmental) behavior in adults and children
- Written communication: ability to develop standard business communications, using proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Oral communication: the ability to convey complex information and ideas in a clear, concise, and professional manner
- Ability to operate essential office equipment, including scanners, copiers, faxes, phones, and basic familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook or similar software applications
- Ability to build partnerships and trusts through collaboration, active listening, and an openness to new ideas
- Ability to operate with the understanding of working within the context of a larger team, not as a private practice clinician
- Demonstrate sensitivity to individual's concerns and needs; listen with patience.
- Use insight and understanding to deliver difficult news compassionately.
- Use appropriate language that the family will hear to clarify complex or confusing data.
- Take the initiative and be proactive about staying current with new research, approaches, policies, laws, methods, or technologies in expertise.
- Act quickly and decisively in a crisis
- Understand and effectively react/adapt to multiple and competing priorities on the job; use knowledge and expertise to focus on crucial job outcomes.
- Familiarity with Lanterman and Early Start Regulations and client resources.
Education:
- Graduate from an accredited medical school.
License:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
- Registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration and CMS for National Provider Identifier.
- ABMS certification
