Job Description

Internal Medicine Physician NocturnistRome, New YorkPosition OverviewA well-established, community-focused hospital in Rome, NY is seeking a full-time Internal Medicine physician (Board Certified or Board Eligible) to join its Hospitalist team as a Nocturnist. This role offers a manageable census, strong subspecialty support, and a stable 7-on/7-off schedule.Clinical Responsibilities
  • Manage 510 inpatients per night
  • Perform admissions from ED and direct admits
  • Complete full histories, physicals, and diagnostic assessments
  • Document in Paragon EMR
  • Manage acute medical issues, including patients in an open ICU
    • 24/7 intensivist consult support
  • Collaborate with nursing, specialists, case management, and ancillary teams
  • Coordinate discharges and ensure safe transition plans
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and handoffs
  • Engage in quality improvement, performance, and safety initiatives
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and documentation standards
  • Mentor residents, students, or APPs as applicable
  • Use evidence-based medicine and demonstrate strong communication skills
  • Attend departmental meetings, training, and CME activities
Qualifications
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible Internal Medicine
    • New grads accepted if BE within 1 year
  • 1 year experience preferred, not required
  • Not accepting:
    • Locums candidates
    • Visa candidates
    • 1099 candidates
Schedule
  • Shifts: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
  • Rotation: 7 days on / 7 days off
  • Weekends: Every other weekend within the rotation
  • Call Requirements: None
