Start: January and ongoing
Schedule: Week on / Week off
Call: From home
Hospital Coverage: 6-bed pediatric floor (expanding to 8 beds in 2025)
Work-Life Balance: 26 weeks off per year

Required Credentials & Experience

Board Certified in Pediatrics (BC only; no BE) REQUIRED
Active Alabama license or active IMLC REQUIRED
Clinically active within last 12 months REQUIRED
Minimum 6 months of specialty-specific clinical experience REQUIRED

Clinical Responsibilities

Inpatient pediatric floor management (6 beds)
ED consults
Newborn couplet care
- Supported by NNPs
No NICU coverage (separate team)
No nursery call or rounds

Subspecialty & Team Support

On-site: Pediatric Pulmonology, Endocrinology, Cardiology
Additional support: Pediatric Orthopedics, Pediatric Surgery (adult surgeons)
Access to UAB pediatric subspecialists for consults
Staffing model: 2 Pediatric Hospitalists
