Per client:

We are seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible General Cardiologist to join our outpatient cardiology team. QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, skills and experience:

  • Education: Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (M.D. or D.O.)
  •  Board Certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical practice.
  • Comfortable with overseeing advanced practice practitioners (PA/ARNP/DNP) for a team-based model of care and participate in development of care pathways that leverage these providers within the department.
  • Strong communication, presentation, active listening, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Comfort and skill with platforms common to the development and presentation of quality and performance data.
  • Ability to build rapport with medical staff, clinical support staff, practice leadership, and working collaboratively with executive team and internal business units.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR), care management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Prior Epic experience is valued.
  • Comfort in working in a value-based care setting, with specific training on risk adjustment, insurance benefits and member navigation; onsite training is available for all new physicians joining our practice
  • Knowledge of local managed care systems and networks is valued.
  • Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, regulatory considerations, and insurance benefits.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Primary Functions:

  1. Outpatient Cardiovascular Evaluation and Management

o   Provide comprehensive consultation, diagnosis, and long-term management of patients with cardiovascular conditions in the outpatient setting.

  1. Preventive Cardiology and Risk Reduction

o   Counsel patients on lifestyle modification, risk factor management, and preventive strategies to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.

  1. Diagnostic Interpretation and Oversight

o   Interpret non-invasive diagnostic studies, including electrocardiograms (ECGs), ambulatory monitors (Holter/Event), echocardiograms, and stress testing.

o   Coordinate appropriate testing and follow-up care.

  1. Collaboration with Multispecialty Team

o   Work closely with primary care physicians and other specialties to ensure integrated, patient-centered care.

o   Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions as needed.

  1. Supervision and Support of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)

o   Provide clinical oversight, mentorship, and support to nurse practitioners and physician assistants within the cardiology team.

o   Review complex cases and support APPs in delivering high-quality care.

  1. Care Coordination and Patient Education

o   Facilitate smooth transitions of care, referrals, and follow-up.

o   Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.

  1. Use of Electronic Health Record (EHR)

o   Document all encounters, treatment plans, and communications using the Epic EHR system

o   Utilize EHR tools to support population health, quality metrics, and care coordination.

  1. Quality and Performance Improvement

o   Participate in clinical quality initiatives aligned with the organization’s goals and the Quintuple Aim.

o   Support efforts to enhance health equity, care team well-being, and patient experience.

  1. Continued Professional Development

o   Maintain board certification and engage in ongoing education and training to stay current with advances in cardiology.

o   Attend relevant department and medical group meetings.
