Job Description
Locum Tenens Opportunity Gastroenterologist (Massachusetts 15 Miles South of Boston)Clinical RoleWere seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position:
- Start Date: October 15, 2025
- Duration: Up to 1 year
- Setting: Inpatient only
- Patient Population: Adults only
- Support Staff: Nurse Practitioner support available during weekdays (no NP coverage on weekends)
- Location: 15 miles south of Boston, MA
- Work Days: Thursdays and Fridays, plus rotating call
- Call Schedule:
- Weekday Call: 1 night per week (5:00 PM 7:00 AM)
- Weekend Call: 1:5 rotation (5:00 PM Friday 7:00 AM Monday)
- Weekend Call Notes: Shared with another GI group; average 57 consults per day and 12 emergency procedures per weekend
- Procedures:
- EGD and colonoscopy required
- Outpatient procedures: 68 patients/day
- Inpatient consults: ~5/day (with NP support during the week)
- Emergency procedures during call: ~1/month (e.g., food impactions, acute GI bleeding)
- Add-on inpatient procedures: 45/day (performed in hospital endoscopy unit, CCU, or OR)
- Facilities: 24-hour endoscopy nursing coverage available at South Shore Hospital
- EMR: EPIC
- Requirements
- Active Massachusetts medical license
- Active ACLS certification
