On rare occasions may need to oversee CRNAs at the ASC if no cardiac cases are scheduled and a physician is needed at the ASC locationDocumentation System/EMR: Cerner - moving to EPIC, some paperAverage Number of Surgical Cases Per Day: Cardiac surgeries 1/day, but not every day; 5-7 general cases/day. Must help cover general if no cardiac casesNumber of Anesthesiologists in Practice: 6 Patient Age Demographic: Adolescent, Child, Adult, Geriatric. Very sick children are sent to other hospitals better staffed/equipped for childrenNumber of Operating Rooms: 8 in use at one timeCannot accept visa candidatesThe group practice is predominantly solo cases, but they do have CRNA students rotating through, so the cardiac anesthesiologist needs to be okay with students in the operating room with him/her. If there is any supervision/direction, the partners will oversee that. If there are no cardiac surgeries scheduled, the locum would be expected to take on general cases until the next scheduled heart caseNumber of Pump Cases/Open Heart Cases Per Year: The program has had hiccups the last 4-5 years with providers coming and going and trying to fill-in with locums. The hospital signed late last fall a cardiac surgeon to a 5 year contract, so there is hope the program will now stabilize.
