- Provide professional nursing care to patients with acute and chronic renal failure. - Administer blood transfusions, intravenous fluid, and special medications via intravenous push. - Perform highly sophisticated therapies such as hemodialysis, therapeutic plasma exchange, peritoneal dialysis, metabolic testing, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, and transplant education. - Teach patient, family, and significant others the principles of dialysis and the different modalities available. - Initiate appropriate measures to include resuscitation during cardiac or respiratory arrest or allergic reaction. - Maintain records, develop and revise nursing care plan based on nursing and medical history, physical examination, and patients needs and/or problems.
