- Provide direct nursing care, of a highly specialized nature, to patients undergoing major surgical procedures in the Operating Room. - Conduct initial perioperative assessment. - Review surgeon preference cards for desired medications, equipment, and surgical supplies. - Respond to the needs of the surgeon, anesthesia provider, and patient during each surgical procedure. - Provide oversight of sedated patients prior, during, and post-procedure. - Monitor and utilize simple and highly technical equipment. - Function as charge nurse assuming the responsibility for promoting quality, cost-effective nursing care.
