• Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm -- 9-hour shifts
• Inpatient care with new consult coverage -- variable patient load
• Inpatient hospital setting
• On-call provider takes over new consults after 5 pm
• Central line placement required
• Microscopic specimen evaluation required
• Management of vascular access devices and central venous catheters
• Intrathecal administration of anti-infective agents required
