Major Duties: - Serve as a board-certified Internal Medicine Specialist providing care to adult patients who have both acute and chronic illnesses of all complexities. - Examine, diagnose, treat, and follow up with patients with a wide range of medical problems, including heart failure, kidney disease, hypertension, diabetes, liver disease, cancer, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and thyroid disorders. - Render urgent treatment and hospitalizes patients as required. - Serve as an attending physician and leader of an inpatient medicine team, supervising, teaching, objectively evaluating, and providing consultation to other healthcare providers. - Provide internal medicine inpatient care to the adult patient population, advice, and consultation on perioperative management and management of other high acuity internal medicine problems. - Serve as a core faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program under the direction of the Program Director. - Support an effective learning environment along with providing expertise in remediation, mentoring, modeling, lectures, journal club, morbidity/mortality conferences, quality improvement projects, and assists with scholarly activity. - Perform on call duties after normal duty hours which may involve being called back to duty for emergent situations and must be readily accessible by telephone or pager during the duration of his/her call period. - Maintain state licensure and meets annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements and participated in continuing board certification. - Administrative oversight of quality improvement, risk management, safety, patient satisfaction, employee discipline/reward, and infection control.
