Job Description
TeamHealth is seeking a full-time, experienced academic emergency medicine (EM) physician to serve as the program director of the emergency medicine residency program at Abrazo West Campus in Goodyear, Arizona. This is an exciting leadership opportunity to shape and grow a relatively new residency program that welcomed its first class of residents in 2020.
As program director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the residency, including strategic planning, accreditation compliance, curriculum development, faculty management, and resident mentorship. Position Highlights:
As program director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the residency, including strategic planning, accreditation compliance, curriculum development, faculty management, and resident mentorship. This position offers complete hospital dedication and financial support to foster a high-quality academic environment and enhance the program's reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and administrative oversight of the EM residency program
- Ensure compliance with ACGME accreditation requirements and maintain educational excellence
- Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty and residents
- Oversee curriculum development, clinical rotations, and academic scheduling
- Promote an environment of scholarly activity through research, publications, and presentations
- Foster collaborative relationships with nursing, allied health, and hospital administration
- Limit clinical responsibilities to no more than 20 hours per week on average
Qualifications
- Board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM)
- Active medical license and hospital privileges or eligibility in Arizona
- Minimum of three years' experience as a clinician, administrator, and educator in emergency medicine
- Prior involvement as a core faculty member in an ACGME-accredited residency program
- Demonstrated educational and administrative expertise acceptable to the review committee
- Proven record of scholarly activity, including involvement in national/regional organizations, research, and academic presentations
- Strong interpersonal, administrative, and team-building skills
