MAJOR DUTIES - Perform professional counseling and addiction medicine treatment in support of patients with an alcohol and substance abuse diagnosis. - Make clinical assessments to apply complex rehabilitation treatment services. - Develop treatment plans that incorporate psychological theory, counseling techniques, and goals needed to restore patients to their normal work and social environment. - Provide strategic interventions, motivational interviewing techniques and crisis counseling for patients and families. - Conduct ongoing review of patient progress and evaluate and modify treatment plans to meet changing needs. - Document case records consistent with clinical standards of care. - Provide training and/or supervision using professional knowledge of procedures and practices related to the addiction medicine outpatient program and Army Substance Abuse Program.
