Duties: - Perform a wide variety of testing in the areas of hematology, coagulation, chemistry, urinalysis, and immunoassays. - Determine appropriateness of incoming specimens (i.e. timing of specimen collection, potential interference, proper specimen type, etc.). - Perform phlebotomy on individuals utilizing proper type of anticoagulants, amount of blood to be drawn, needle and syringe, Vacutainer, butterfly techniques, and labels, as appropriate. - Maintain quality control within the clinical laboratory. - Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks. - Assist in training hospital laboratory personnel, staff and students in the performance of hematology and chemistry tasks and the related quality assurance, instrument maintenance and implications of various results.
