- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the daily operation of the Dialysis Unit. - Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients requiring renal replacement therapies for acute renal failure or End Stage Renal Disease. - Supervise, assign, train, and evaluate work performance of professional nurses, civilian and military Licensed Practical Nurses, Dialysis Technicians, and administrative personnel. - Establish, review and update nursing policies and procedures, internal standing operating procedures, and patient education criteria in accordance with nursing practices and standards. - Provide advanced nursing assessment and intervention skills to prevent complications and restore and/or optimize health. - Identify developmental and training needs of employees and initiate action to provide such training. - Conduct dialysis on patients with multi-system organ failure. Assess and intervene appropriately to meet the dynamic physical changes of the labile and/or potentially hemodynamically unstable patient. - Supervise supply requirements, equipment safety, and unit maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.
