Duties - Perform initial patient work-up by securing a health and medical history from the patient or family members and records findings. - Examine patients and determine the need for and order laboratory tests, X-rays, physician consultation and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient. - Write prescriptions and order the administration of medications in accordance with approved treatment protocols. - Make clinical decisions and diagnoses disease, illness or injury and works collaboratively with the physician in providing patient care, management and revision of therapeutic plans. - Record entries into patients chart including daily progress notes with test results, treatment plans and outcomes.
