As a Mental Health Consultant at Hickam AFB, you will serve as a critical subject matter expert, bridging the gap between direct clinical care and command-level health strategies. Patient Care & Documentation: - Conduct brief, targeted biopsychosocial assessments. - Deliver evidence-based interventions in 30-minute appointments using a stepped-care model. - Treat chronic conditions, insomnia, acute stress, and health behaviors. - Triage/refer complex cases to Specialty Mental Health. - Complete concise electronic medical record documentation within 72 hours of the visit. Consultation & Team-Based Care: - Provide immediate, succinct feedback to Primary Care Managers (PCMs). - Actively drive same-day "warm handoffs" and increase clinic-wide service penetration. - Review daily PCM schedules ("scrubbing lists") and participate in morning huddles. - Offer continuity consultation to monitor long-term patients and prevent relapse. Educational Activities : - Develop and lead educational classes focused on coping skills and behavior change. - Train primary care clinic staff to recognize symptoms and optimize PCMHI referral pathways.
