Duties - Performs medical screening examinations in an inpatient or outpatient setting. - Examines patients and performs initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment. - Determines the need for and orders laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient. - Diagnoses disease, illness disorder or injury. - Prescribes for and treats a variety of diseases, disorders and injuries. - Position may require incumbent to provide preoperative and postoperative care, and may work as first or second assistants during major surgery.
