As a Practical Nurse you will: - Obtain all vital signs such as: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference, and length; and perform behavioral health screenings. - Provide individualized nursing care to patients based upon the physicians medical care plan, the nursing assessment, and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient. - Obtain intravenous (IV) access, and prepare medications and immunizations for administration. - Review immunization records and unit Standard Operating Procedures to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and routes of administration. - Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups via established protocols. - Educate patients and/or family regarding self-care procedures and documents teaching. - Instruct patients and/or family regarding normal verses adverse reactions to immunizations and treatment for normal reactions of discomfort. - Review laboratory results and bring abnormal results to attention of physician. - Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.
