Psychiatrist - (Psych) Locum Tenens
StartDate: 08/07/2017Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day

Psychiatrist needed for Crisis Stabilization Unit southwest of Atlanta. The physician(s) in working with the 24/7 Crisis Stabilization Units (CSU's) are responsible for reviewing and admitting all patients presented to them by the nurse team. As a contracted provider with the Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), facility is held to performance guarantees/key performance indicators. One of which is the expected occupancy rate for the Adult CSU (24 bed unit) as well as the Child & Adolescent CSU (12 bed unit). The expected occupancy rate for both programs is, at minimum, 90%. This means that the physicians would be seeing approximately 22 patients/clients in the Adult CSU on any given day, and 11 patients/clients in the Child & Adolescent CSU on any given day. A psychiatrist (locum tenens) is a mental health professional, who focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating mental illness. After completing medical school, a psychiatrist must also complete a one year internship and three additional years of specialized training as a psychiatric resident. In the treatment of mental illness, a psychiatrist is licensed to prescribe medication. Some conditions requiring medication include; depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. A psychiatrist evaluates patients with mental illness and, in cases where medication is subscribed, often practices medication management.
