Geriatrician - in New Mexico
StartDate: ASAP

Merritt Hawkins, the nations premier academic search firm has partnered with the growing multidisciplinary Section of Geriatric Medicine at the University of New Mexico to seek new faculty and leaders. The School of Medicine at UNM has made an institutional commitment to developing a Geriatric Center of Excellence to meet growing educational, patient, and research priorities. Attributes of the role include:
  • The current section chief is interested in mentoring a replacement to take over as section chief in addition to potential clinical and research leadership roles within the geriatric program
  • Current departmental and divisional leadership is committed to mentoring aspiring faculty and leaders
  • Current section consists of family medicine and internal medicine trained geriatricians, neurologists, PharmDs, nurse practitioners, MAs, and other excellent staff with very low turnover
  • Option to focus exclusively on outpatient care or combine with nursing home visits and/or home health visits
  • Protected time available for teaching, research, and administrative duties
  • Established fellowship in place
  • Enjoy only two to three weeks per year of call, consisting of backup phone call only
  • Innovative research opportunities available in collaboration with other departments and divisions in addition to the UNM schools of Public Health, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Architecture, Arts, Exercise and Physiology, Speech, and more

Required Qualifications
MD or DO, BE or BC in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, education and training in Geriatrics with current eligibility for certification, must be eligible to work in the US
