Physician / Chief Medical Officer / Administration

Job Responsibilities

Chief Medical Officer. Healthcare professionals on track for active administrative positions offer aspire to become the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). At the senior level, CMOs are licensed physicians who have shifted their practice to oversee clinical operations in their medical setting.

Additional responsibilities for the Chief Medical Officer include:

  • Represent our client internally/externally as a cutting edge multispeciality medical group
  • Lead in developing standard clinical pathways
  • Oversee quality improvement, risk management and safety programs
  • Participate in clinical advisory committees soliciting physician feedback and ideas for improvement
  • Analyze data and implement process improvement to improve overall performance
  • Lead and implement clinical direction of our client
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate and develop clinical integration opportunities with care centers and other health delivery systems to achieve favorable outcomes
  • Develop capabilities for support and guidance utilizing evidence based information
  • Drive initiatives to support patient navigation including transitional care and long term care
  • Oversee utilization management to promote cost effective outcomes while maintaining the highest quality
  • Orchestrate the training, motivation and support for the clinical staff in corporate locations
  • Assist physicians and the care management team with complex medical management issues and act as a liaison with insurance companies for complex cases
  • Be aware of accreditation standards and guide the organization to meeting or exceeding them
  • Participate in electronic health record improvement initiatives
  • Advise and assist with alternative funding sources for innovative projects

Job Requirements

We are looking for dedicated and professional Chief Medical Officer who are committed to providing exceptional patient care and service. It is also important that you are highly organized and that you demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Specific qualifications for the Chief Medical Officer role include:

  • Proven track record of leadership roles
  • Full working understanding of ambulatory practice
  • Strategic, innovative and creative thinker with proven ability to communicate a vision and drive results
  • Comfort conduting physician and business meetings on both small and large scales
  • Excellent collaborative and organizational skills
  • Trustworthy personality who can lead providers in transformation process
  • Experience in case management, disease management, and/or population health programs
  • Able to take direction from our governing body and supply clinical support for our leaders
  • Understand risk management, HIPAA and safety guidelines
  • Has hands on experience with at least one electronic medical system
  • Multitasker who performs well under stress
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of New Jersey
  • Board certification by one of the following: The American Board of Medical Specialities, The American Osteopathic Association Board of Osteopathic Specialists or the American Board of Physician Specialities
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct patient care in the outpatient setting after completion of residency
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managerial or executive role
