Patterson is a rural small town surrounded by agricultural land and the Pacific Coast Range. Agriculture is its primary economic base with orchards of apricots, almonds, and walnuts. It maintains a small-town atmosphere while providing services found in the larger surrounding cities. The area has numerous outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, golfing, and hiking in the Diablo Range.
