Job Description

 CENTRAL NJ METRO GERIATRIC MEDICAL DIRECTOR POSITION
 
 
Hospital employed Geriatric Medical Director position with an award-winning 774-bed health system in desirable family oriented central NJ metro area 30 minutes to Philadelphia and 1 hr. to NYC.
 

Board-certified FP or IM

Lead Physician for Post Acute Care

•             Joining 6 other f/t Physicians and 1 Nurse Practitioners 

•             Physician shall be an MD or a DO.

•             Physician shall be Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. It is preferred that the physician be additionally certified in Geriatrics with experience in palliative care.

Duties as the Post-Acute Care Lead Physician

Physician’s duties shall be divided as follows:

•             Administrative oversight for the Post-Acute Care Practice The Lead Physician will not necessarily be responsible for rounding at each of these facilities but she/he will be overseeing physicians who are on the closed staff of these facilities. The lead will also be involved in building relationships with the facilities and selecting which ones are preferred.

•             Current physicians and NPs who will be part of this practice.

 

•             We will look to hire one or two more NPs as well as another part-time physician possibly.

•             There are no current plans for this person to be teaching residents but there may be some interaction in the future. The Family Medicine Residency Teaching Faculty will be doing most of the teaching and oversight of residents.

•             Call:  On-Call responsibilities will be shared by all the physicians and NPs in the program. Our experience has been that on-call responsibilities are minimal during nights after hours.

•             There will be no outpatient office-based follow-ups. This will be a role for SNF/Nursing/Assisted Living only. There may be some oversight of a physician or provider who may be placed in an Assisted Living Facility at some point in the future.

•             Typical Week:  A typical work week will involve going to 3-4 nursing homes to review and co-sign admission notes from the NP and participating in long term care monthly or annual reports. In addition, there will be administrative time for overseeing the physicians and NPs in the practice. Most of our physicians and providers see around 15 patients per day.

•             Negotiable $259K salary,signing bonus,production bonus,benefits,loan repayment and relocation.
