Academic Faculty Position:

Internist for Continuity ClinicACGME Internal Medicine Residency program seeks Internist to join Southeast Health Internal Medicine Residency graduate medical education faculty.

The physician will be responsible for teaching and supervising internal medicine interns and residents in the Continuity Clinic during years 1-3 of their training. The clinic serves a diverse patient population spanning all adult age groups, socio-economic classes, and ethnic groups. Dothan, AL ranked #1 small city for doctors by AdvisorSmith.

The program currently consists of 13 residents/yr
Each resident will have 1 half-day continuity clinic when onwards each week. When in research or elective, they will have 2 half days of clinic/week. There is no clinic during ICU, night float, or EM.
Faculty physician to resident ratio 1:4 Physician will be responsible for preparing and delivering occasional didactic lectures 10-15 min in length on selected topics/diseases


The physician must be Internal Medicine Residency trained and BC in IM
The ideal candidate will possess 3-5 yrs experience practicing outpatient IM post-residency training
Enthusiasm for teaching and leading physicians


Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm work schedule
No weekend, holiday, or call requirements
The clinic is located on Southeast Health campus

32 ICU beds with dedicated Intensivists
28-bed inpatient psychiatric program and outpatient center with psychiatric hospitalist coverage
24/7 cardiology services with2 employed cardiothoracic surgeons
Wound Care Center with traditional and advanced treatments including hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Women's Imaging Center, Family
Robust surgical services including general, vascular, cardiothoracic, urologic, orthopedic, and reconstructive.

The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) is Alabama's first osteopathic medical school and the first in the U.S. to be developed by a regional medical center.
The third class of 160 students graduated from ACOM in May 2019.
An ACGME Internal Medicine Residency Program began in July 2018 with an inaugural class of 13 residents. The third class of 13 residents will begin in July 2020.
