Clinical Research Neuroradiologist - Central Illinois
Clinical responsibilities: The candidate will spend 25% of his/her time in the Department of Radiology, specialty neuroradiology, with duties including reading and interpretation of x-rays, CT, MRI, and myelography, as well as performing diagnostic procedures, including but not limited to angiography; lumbar and cervical puncture; soft tissue and bone biopsy; drain placement.
Additionally the candidate will have primary responsibility for:
- Setting up of clinical protocols for neuroimaging on the 7 Tesla
- Reading and interpretation of 7T scans for clinical research
Research: The candidate will have a dedicated ~75% time to participate in neuroradiology research, with emphasis on high field MRI. The candidate will be encouraged to develop relationships and collaborate with existing researchers, as well as clinicians in other departments. The candidate will be expected to attract intramural and extramural funding, develop hypothesis-driven protocols, and publish in the literature. It is anticipated that the candidate will be an active co-author on journal publications.
The successful applicant also has the potential to be appointed at the appropriate academic level. Additional academic appointments will be possible in the relevant university department (e.g. Bioengineering, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Psychology, Electrical and Computer Engineering),etc.
Teaching: The candidate will be encouraged to teach undergraduates, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and post-doctoral candidates from both our home community and from other institutions.
