Job Description
A rehabilitation services network in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) to join their Addiction Treatment team in Brooklyn.
Responsibilities:
The Addiction Treatment Nurse (RN) will:
- Collect patient health data, including substance use, and formulate a Nursing diagnosis based on the patient assessment data
- Evaluate outcomes and patients’ response to nursing actions, and communicate to the interdisciplinary team
- Educate the patient on the importance of being compliant with their medication schedule
- Administer prescribed medication consistent with organization’s policy and procedure
- Provide health teaching (related to diabetes, hypertension, nutrition, etc.) and document the patient’s understanding
- Participate in Performance Improvement Programs, and practice nursing in accordance with NYS and Facility regulations, policies and procedures
- Attend monthly medical meetings, nurses’ meetings, and staff meetings
- Practice safe and ethical nursing in accordance with NYS and organization’s regulations, policies and procedures
- Maintain therapeutic relationships within appropriate professional boundaries
- Support patients’ rights, maintain patient confidentiality, and serve as patient advocate
- Identify ethical dilemmas and seek help to formulate ethical decisions
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 1+ year of Nursing experience in a Healthcare setting; 6+ months of Acute Dialysis experience
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
- NC Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA)
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- Associate's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
