Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center is the Valley's largest hospital, with 448 licensed beds and 650 medical staff members. One of only four "green hospitals" in the nation, Saint Joe's is known for cutting-edge facilities, technology and treatments. Providence Holy Cross, with 254 beds and a medical staff of 595, is in the midst of a massive expansion project that will, among other things, double the number of beds in the Emergency Department. The hospitals' shared programs include the Providence Heart and Vascular Institute, whose physicians treat 2,600 inpatients per year.
