Portland, Oregon -- Providence Health & Services is seeking an exceptional Psychiatrist to join our team as an assistant medical director in Portland, Oregon. Will help lead our new Neuropsychiatry department and maintain a clinical practice at Providence Portland Medical Center (PPMC). Position reports directly to Regional Medical Director of Behavioral Health and will be 60 percent focused on providing assistant medical director support to our new Neuropsychiatric Procedures program. Will also participate in the direct provision of procedure services.
The procedures program will start by focusing on setting up an Electroconvulsive Therapy program at the PPMC site. Other psychiatrists who are existing members of our team have identified an interest in ECT and will help us provide 5 day a week services without interruption. Some of them have experience and some don't with ECT. Also responsible for the following: helping us establish credentialing and privileging requirements; training (or helping to provide training) and ongoing supervision of psychiatrists and allied staff; developing policies and procedures; and managing day-to-day services in conjunction with the nurse manager of surgical services. Will work closely with the operations managers to help us achieve operational goals for the program. Once the PPMC ECT program is well established, we will explore the feasibility of expanding to our other Portland campus, Providence St. Vincent Medical Cetner, with ECT or other procedures such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and evaluation for the applicability of Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS).
The remaining 40 percent of the position will be focused on providing general psychiatric outpatient clinical services at the PPMC site. There will be no routine call although initially the procedure psychiatrists may need to take some call regarding ECT patients.
Must be board certified in general psychiatry, and have extensive experience with ECT as well has some experience with program development and management. Expertise or certification in TMS and VNS is highly desirable. Excellent compensation (salary plus productivity model) and generous Providence benefits.
