PhyAmerica Government Services is currently seeking qualified individuals for opportunities at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA. This position is under the Psychological Health initiative under the Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (PHTBI) program which seeks to address gaps in the care available for the prevalent injuries among combatants from the global war on terrorism.
HOURS: 8.5 hour shifts (includes an uncompensated 30 or 60 minute meal break). Hours range from 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
DUTIES: Assess, evaluate, consult, differential diagnose, and plan treatment for all disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (current edition) published by the American Psychiatric Association.
Provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Provide major types of psychotherapy.
QUALIFICATIONS : Possess a Doctorate Degree in Medicine from an accredited college approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, a Doctorate Degree in Osteopathy from a college accredited by the American Osteopathic Association, or permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
Have successfully completed a residency program in psychiatry
Board certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, or the American Osteopathic Association.
Have a minimum of 3 years experience within the last 5 years as a full-time psychiatrist. OR, graduation from a psychiatry residency program within the preceding 12 months.
Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
