Overview:
As a Psychologist, you are responsible for performing psychological assessments and evaluation of eligible clients who have problems with personality, emotional adjustment or mental illness. Analyses and interprets complete psychological data concerning the client and accesses factor of personality structure and dynamics as they affect attitudes and interests. Assists clients in making decisions and choices regarding rehabilitation issues In term of his/her psychological problems in adjusting to the military environment. Assists In the development of treatment plans and educational programs design to help client achieve set goals. Recognize when client's problems of personal adjustment preclude successful counseling. Refers client to other providers as appropriate or informs client of other resources available in the community. Conducts diagnostic interviews to assess client's need for testing, treatment, and follow up.

Responsibilities:
Serves as advisor and consultant to other staff and officials in the specialized areas of clinical psychology to include comprehensive psychological evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment. Applies skilled expertise in several specialized areas of psychology such as deployment and combat stress, consultation, suicide risk assessment, drug and alcohol addiction and abuse, neuropsychology, personality assessment, use and interpretation of instruments uncovering functional and organic aspects of pathology, and behavior change of the client. Directly evaluates the most difficult and complex cases to determine appropriate placement in Inpatient, Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient or referral to other agencies and to determine the appropriate types of individual and group interventions to be employed. Communicates the results of the evaluations, taking full responsibility for the findings, interpretations, decisions, recommendations, and reports; and participates in therapy program development and consultation with all levels of staff regarding the neuropsychological, personality, social, environmental, and drug and alcohol aspects of the results as these relate to the behavioral change of the client. Serves as consultant to other staff psychologists, behavioral health specialist, and other medical staff. Is an authoritative source of information in the specialized area of military behavioral health and psychological evaluation and treatment.
Qualifications:
Must be a licensed psychologist. A PhD, or manifestly equivalent degree from an APA approved program, and an APA approved internship. Subspecialty positions require additional training and experience.
