They need coverage 12-16 hours per week. There is a mix of cases - one type requires weekly notes and the other requires daily notes. Intakes must be done within 24 hours of admission and the average length of stay is about 45 days. Notes will be put into an electronic medical record and there is a staff of nurses that works with all of the doctors. In addition to the other part-time psychiatrist on the unit, there is a Medical Director who can provide support and direction. They will not need any on-call coverage. Ideally the locums would be at the program on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays rounds are from 1-2pm and on Thursdays from 11-1. If this wasn't possible, then Tuesdays and Fridays are most important. LocumTenens.com will cover malpractice insurance, which is occurrence, as well as travel and housing costs.
