Opportunity for productivity-based compensation after one year (required after two years). Benefits include medical, dental and vision (company pays 65% of premium cost); life insurance and short and long-term disability (company paid); 401k with 100% company match up to 4% after one year. Minimum Experience Required: Two years of pediatric primary care experience is preferred; a desire to work in a community health center and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes is required. Interpersonal skills that contribute to a productive team are essential. Spanish language skills a plus. Medically Underserved Area: Yes Health Professional Shortage Area: Yes Rural Health Center: No Service Area Size: Service area includes the City of Lorain in Lorain County with approximately 70,000 residents. Lorain County Health & Dentistry (LCH&D) has two sites the main site is in downtown Lorain where pediatrics, Ob/Gyn and the dental clinic are located. The second, smaller site is dedicated to adult medicine, and is located four miles away in a largely Latino neighborhood. Type of Practice: Community health center providing primary care including pediatrics. Employment Arrangements: Scheduled work week is 36 hours (4 1/2 days), including approximately 32 clinical appointment hours/week. Inpatient responsibilities at one Lorain hospital required. Academic Faculty Option: Possible Practice Schedule: Four days in the clinic 8:30 am - 5 pm, plus one 4-hour day per week (to be determined) working in outpatient 8:30 am 12:30 pm. Evening hours (until 7 pm) may be required one day a week beginning later this year. Loan Repayment: Available Call Coverage: Pediatrics call is shared by two physicians who can determine how best they would like to handle call arrangements. Historically, our doctors receive few after-hours calls. Practice Environment: Office is located in a spacious and modern one-story health center. Two pediatric providers share 6 treatment rooms and a back office. The space was specifically designed for outpatient use and is efficiently laid-out, comfortable, pleasant and well-equipped. The physician will be assisted by a consistent LPN and a shared (between two doctors) medical assistant. There is adequate support staff at registration, discharge and in medical records. Bilingual staff members are available for translation. The pediatrics clinic has an active roster of about 4,000 patients annually. Opportunity Description: We are a busy health center that sees about 13,000 patients annually in 40,000 visits. We provide Ob/Gyn, peds, adult/family medicine, podiatry, asthma/allergy care and general dentistry. We expect volume to grow in all clinics. Onsite at our main location is a hospital-run lab and radiology department where patients may easily be referred. Community Type and Description: Lorain is the largest city in Lorain County and is situated in the northernmost point of the county on Lake Erie. Residents enjoy the lakefront (parks, beaches, boating, fishing), benefits of a culturally diverse population (restaurants, festivals, shopping), and the citys good and reliable services. Lorain is an easy 40 minute drive to Cleveland (arts, orchestra, education and health care institutions and a 30 minute drive to the Cleveland Hopkins International airport. Sandusky is 40 minutes west of Lorain and is home to Cedar Point Amusement Park and the ferry boats to the Lake Erie Islands.
