This financially sound institution, ranked as one of the top 15 major teaching hospitals in the nation, is recruiting a 5th Pediatric Intensivist as part of a system wide clinical expansion to provide ongoing support to the School of Medicine. The recently opened Center for Advanced Medicine contains a newly renovated 8 bed PICU and 4 bed stepdown unit. There are 450-500 PICU step-down admissions per year. A full range of pediatric medical subspecialties are available to support the unit. This is central Texas only Level 1 trauma center. The Division also supports an active sedation service including MRI coverage. With the completion of this recruitment, the Division will begin a 24/5 in-house coverage model.
Opportunity Highlights ~ A number of initiatives within the Department of Pediatrics and the Division, including enhancing the use of medical simulation in education, leading the Divisions QI program including implementation of the VPS/PRISM database, and developing and leading a ground based pediatric transport program provide opportunities for the successful candidate to lead and develop excellence in non-direct patient care areas. Candidate Requirements ~ Ideal candidate will be fellowship trained in Pediatric Critical Care, BC/BE, eligible for a Texas license, have experience (either in fellowship or current practice) and continuing interest in congenital heart care, with a commitment to resident and staff education.
