Our facility is a hospital within a hospital with a 41 bed inpatient unit, an 11 bed PICU, and a 43 bed NICU. The facility is the only tertiary care facility for children in Central Mass and has a full array of pediatric and surgical sub-specialists for childrens care. Reason for opening: Regional need, catchment area over 1 million, to meet the community needs of Central Massachusetts " The only Level One Trauma Center in Central Massachusetts for adults and children " Typical day: 1-2 OR days, 3-4 clinic sessions/week " Call schedule follows call rotation 3X/month? " Teaching opportunities with medical students and residents " The only ICUs in the state electronically linked 24/7 to intensive care specialists using the latest technology, proven to save more lives Conditions evaluated and treated: Scoliosis, congenital deformities, injuries, sports and hand, development dysplasia of the hip, walking disorders, birth defects, developmental dysplasia of the hip, clubfoot, pediatric neurology with cerebral palsy, myelodysplasia and neuromuscular disorders including muscular dystrophy.
