The opening of the Birthing Center in January 2007 was the culmination of a $23 million capital campaign for the Hospital which modernized and renovated major patient care areas. The hospital also opened a new Critical Care Unit and Short Stay Unit, and created additional Surgical Services space and a new Emergency Center. The Birthing Center offers an active midwife program; a certified lactation consultant whose services are available in the hospital and at home; pre-natal childbirth education through the hospital and Visiting Nurse Association; and follow-up home visits for new mothers.
