There is a large manufacturing plant in town with well-insured patients. Last year there were less than 100 babies delivered at their hospital. Years ago, there were 2 OBGYNs in town who delivered. These two had a huge falling out, and they both left the community. With 2 docs in town, they were doing 3-400 deliveries a year.
The Solution: The hospital wants to hire 2 physicians. The hospital will provide a startup income guarantee or employ for 18 mos to 2 years. Salary will be in the $225,000-$260,000 range, DOE, plus benefits, vacation and CME.
They do realize this will be a ramp-up process. The L&D is outdated. The hospital is deciding whether they will rebuild / renovate, or if they will build a completely new facility.
