New York Internal Medicine

We are currently seeking an Internal Medicine Physician.

We provide comprehensive acute medical-surgical care and emergency care, and have widely recognized programs in chemical dependency treatment, cardiac care, obstetrics, and physical rehabilitation services.

Specific skill sets required: General Internal Medicine

Patients/ volume expected to be seen per day: 20-30+ Number of hospitals/clinics serviced: 1 Service area 40,000 - 50,000 ER Call Schedule Details: Weekdays M-F (Fri until 5 p.m.) - Unattached Patients 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. - IMs take no call. Hospitalist covers. Weekdays M-F (Fri until 5 p.m.) - Attached Patients (24 hours) - IMs round on own attached patients. Hospitalist only covers attached patients in special circumstances. Weekdays M-Thurs - Unattached Patients 7 p.m. - 7 p.m. - IMs take call for unattached patients. Call for new candidate coming in is 1:7. Weekends Fri 5 p.m. - Monday 7 a.m. - IMs take call for attached AND unattached patients. Call for new candidate coming in for weekend call for attached AND unattached patients is 1:7. Physicians work out splitting shifts, etc. among themselves.

Of Special Note: There is a strong ED staff - IM is called in rarely - only if the ED staff truly needs IM doc. Frequency of being called in is extremely low. ED docs will call and discuss the patient and admit on IM's behalf, unless IM prefers to come in. Hospital has exclusive contract with ED group for six physicians and four Physician Assistants. PAs work 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. shifts only (peak hours with ED physician).

Requirements: Degree Required: MD and/or DO Travel Required: 0-10% Board Eligible or Board Certified
