This position is an employed practice at a Community Hospital.
A hospitalist could live in any number of beach front, riverfront or even nice small city communities. The area has experienced unprecedented growth in the past 3 years. In fact, property on the main corridor in the region has tripled in value in the past year. However, it's still a lot cheaper than similar coastal properties in Florida.
The hospital is hiring 2 physicians to join our program, which kicked off in 1Q 07. The work schedule will be one week on, one week off (2 docs per week). The shift work will be 7-7, providing 24 hour coverage alternating days and evenings each week you are in house. The average census is 12-15 patients.
They currently have approximately a 30% market penetration, and the surgery penetration is probably 40% of the market.
The base salary is $NEGOTIABLE, and they claim they will be competitive nationally. Productivity is $5.00 per RVU paid quarterly based on gross revenue (I think 6% of gross revenue is the productivity, but the group can explain this better than can I). There is also a performance bonus based on Customer Service and Quality Core measures, up to $10,000, payable bi-annually.
As for benefits, they are excellent: full health, dental, flex dollars for LTD, etc. After 1 year, LTD is paid. 403B retirement plan, pr-tax match 3% plus defined benefit plan based on years of service, with a 5 year vesting schedule, and it is paid into on behalf of the physician from day 1.
