Massachusetts Hospitalist

Hospitalist-Western Boston subs- with academics and Harvard Appointment-- Join a current group of 3. This is a day position with no nights or weekends. This is a 24/7 program with moonlighters covering the nights and weekends. Seeking physicians with some experience and Boarded. Round on ICU pts daily, 10-20% Hosp pts and 75% post surgical pts. Must know how to intubate, be comfortable managing ventilators and know how to put in central lines. Hospitalist also serves as a consultant to physicians in the hospital and a a Medical House Officer responding to Code Blue. Will have to consult with attendings who highly value the Hospitalists. The hospitalists will rotate through surgery to keep intubation skills sharp. The hospitalist also covers the ambulatory care unit which is like a walk-in clinic. The physician is able to keep their outpatient skills and it creates a different, exciting and diverse day. A typical schedule for a hospitalist would be 2 days inpatient, 7am-7pm, and 2 days in the ambulatory care unit, 11am-7pm. The hospitalist has about 8-15 inpatients/day consisting of ICU, Hospital and Consults. There are typically about 4 pts in the ICU. Academic appt through Harvard Medical. Serve as preceptor to 2nd yr Harvard Med students teaching patient-doctor II course which runs 7 months of the year. Compensation is $90-$97/hr. Around 210,000 k yearly. Must work 40 hr minimum with opportunity to work more shifts.
