Indiana Hospitalist

Unique opportunity to join a growing hospitalist program in the southwest suburbs of Indianapolis. The hospital which began as a Colon and Rectal Surgery Center as well as Hip and Knee Surgery Hospital was enlarged into a community hospital in 2007. The hospital group started when is just a surgery hospital and so the program still revolves around that as its primary focus. They are two aspects of this job. First is the rounding on both the post op surgical patients as well as general hospital admissions and the second is pre op clinic making sure the patients are prepared for their surgeries. The program currently has three physicians. They work a Monday to Friday daytime model and share in a 1 in 3 call schedule that grow to 1 in 6 as more physicians are added. The schedule will be 3 days rounding on the floor and the fourth day in the pre op clinic. They run two physicians rounding with a per physician census of up to 20. ICU work including central lines and vent management are required but all complex patients are transferred to the parent hospital. This will be an employed position with a starting salary in the $200,000 range plus bonuses. They will also provide malpractice and a very attractive benefits package. The community is in a growing area of the city and is only 15 minutes from downtown. Indianapolis has something for everyone including professional sports, museums, theater, performing arts, excellent shopping and dining, 4 distinct seasons and several parks and gardens. There also plentiful outdoor activities such as biking, fishing, hiking, golf and more.
