A successful Hospitalist program currently has three excellent physicians and is seeking to replace one of the three. Call is 1:4 with shift times of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The program is at a regional medical center with a full array of specialists. The technology is some of the finest in the country and a new state-of-the-art medical center is being built. The compensation package is excellent with a base salary of $200,000 and incentives that could reach $35,000 - $40,000. The program has brought 40 great physicians to the area over the last several years and has done so with their out-of-the-box approach to compensation. Other benefits like vacation, CME, retirement and insurance are top flight. The Hospitalists are supported by an excellent nursing staff (no travelers in six years), discharge planners and social service directors who are the best in the state, and a management team that caters to physicians.
