General Surgery-Western Massachusetts where there is a need for general surgeons.
A new physician will become an employee of the Medical Center within a multi-specialty surgical group; call coverage will be shared with other general surgeons on the medical staff. Call will be 1 in 4. The office is located on the campus of the Medical Center.
General surgeon must be board eligible (new grads) or board certified for those who have been practicing.
As an employee of the Medical Center, this will be a full time, employed position, with a comprehensive benefit package which will include insurances (health, dental, long term disability, life, and malpractice), paid time off (vacation, holiday, illness and CME), optional participation in an income deferral program under a 403(b) retirement plan, CME allowance, etc. Compensation is negotiable based upon years of experience, board certification, etc.
The Medical Center has made significant investments over the past few years to maintain its physical plant and equipment at state-of-the-art levels. An investment of 20 million dollars over the past several years has resulted in the new construction and renovation of existing operating suites and PACU in the peri-operative area, complete renovation of both the ICU and telemetry units, purchase and installation of a 16-slice CT scanner, purchase and installation of a fixed MRI unit, purchase and installation of a picture archiving system (PACS) for imaging studies, etc. The Medical Center has gone live with a computerized physician order entry (CPOE) system; an electronic medical record system is in development.
The region is in the foothills of the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts. Outstanding private schools at all levels (elementary, secondary, college) and excellent public colleges are available in close proximity to the Medical Center. The cost of living in Western Massachusetts is significantly less than eastern Massachusetts.
