South Dakota Gastroenterology

Seeking a board certified or board eligible Gastroenterologist/Hepatologist to join one other Hepatologist at the Center for Liver Disease. The Hepatologists work as a team with the transplant surgeons and provide endoscopy procedures in a state-of-the-art Endoscopy Center. The Endoscopy Center has four procedure rooms with one designated for Endoscopic Ultrasound where 6-8 EUS procedures are performed weekly. A group of five highly skilled Avera gastroenterologists also provide a wide array of advanced endoscopic procedures including therapeutic ERCP. Other clinical and academic activities include a weekly GI conference, and teaching of medical students, family practice residents, and internal medicine residents. There is potential for clinical research and clinical faculty appointment is a possibility in conjunction with the South Dakota School of Medicine. The physicians are employed by Avera McKennan Hospital and receive a competitive salary and a generous benefit package.

TRANSPLANT INSTITUTE

The Transplant Institute opened at Hospital in 1993. Well over 500 kidney transplants have been performed at the Transplant Center, with success rates higher than the national average. The transplant program provides kidney and pancreas transplants and is in the process of expanding to provide liver transplants.
