Nebraska Family Practice

Our Family Medicine, PC, is actively recruiting a Family Medicine physician to join a thriving private practice in rural Alma, Nebraska.

The ideal candidate will be BE/BC in Family Medicine. However, any primary care oriented physician, not to exclude internal medicine or general surgery, is welcome. Willingness to be visible and, to the extent time allows, involved in community activities, although not required, is a plus.

Our Family Medicine operates in a rural setting, however Alma is not your typical rural community. It is located in south central Nebraska on the banks of Harlan County Lake, the second largest lake in the state. Opportunities abound for the outdoor enthusiast including boating, hiking, hunting, and fishing among others.

Our Hospital is a 25-bed facility, Medicare certified, providing short-term acute medical-surgical, along with a full range of outpatient services. In addition to acute care, the hospital enrolls in the Swing Bed program, and provides Skilled Care as well as Intermediate Care nursing service. Home Health and Hospice services are also available. A Lifeline system is monitored at the hospital's nursing station, and responder units are available. In 1997 it was named a Rural Primary Care Hospital, and then as a Critical Access Hospital in 1998. It has been managed by Great Plains Health Alliance of Phillipsburg, Kansas since 1951.

The hospital has a full-service laboratory and X-ray department. CT scan, ultrasound, mammography, EKG, Holter monitoring and vascular diagnostics are available. Specialists see patients at the Harlan County Hospital in cardiology, urology and surgery, orthopedics, podiatry, ophthalmology and general surgery. Physical, occupational and speech therapists are at the hospital almost every day.

Our Health System has a Fujinon EVE400 video processor; light source; high-resolution monitor; and a colonoscopy, gastro scope, and laparoscope for less invasive procedures. They also have Interactive Television, making it possible for the doctors and patients to consult with another physician in a metropolitan hospital.
