This community is located at the very center of the county in Southwest Kansas. It is also located within driving distance of the states of Oklahoma, Nebraska and Colorado. The community abounds with history - some in the form of fossils from prehistoric times. The first building in Kansas-a pueblo, was erected about the time of Columbus, and an important battle in Kansas between the U.S. Cavalry and Native Americans took place in the county.

Camping and recreation vehicle facilities are offered at the State Park which allows visitors to fish, boat, hike, and view the outcroppings of the Ogallala, the storage tank for water on these high plains. Wild game abounds with pheasants, turkeys, jackrabbits, and deer. Native Bison, also known as buffalo, are viewable at the park. Thousands of cattle are also fed in this county.

The lush green fields of wheat in spring turn gold for harvest in early summer. Grain sorghum (milo) and corn supply the green for summer. When cool weather arrives, there is the chance for seeing morning mirages where distant farms show up above the horizon, and at night, the beautiful light mirages leap up light on light.

The community offers a progressive business district with many eating establishments to suit every taste and quest for dcor. Facilities for group gatherings can accommodate most any group. Golf, tennis, swimming, tennis courts, indoor riding arena, three parks, health and fitness club, bowling alley, camping, fishing, hunting, and baseball facilities exist for all to use.

The community offers all a friendly welcome.
