PhyAmerica Government Services is currently recruiting Emergency Medicine Residency trained and Board Certified/Prepared Emergency Medicine Physicians for possible opportunities at DeWitt Army Community Hospital, Ft Belvoir, Virginia. This Emergency Department participates in the academic mission of the institution for training residents and students. The Certifying Board for Emergency Medicine must be approved by the nationally accrediting agencies for all allopathic or osteopathic specialty boards, such as the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), and the American Osteopathic Associations (AOA). In addition the residency training programs for Emergency Medicine must be approved by the nationally accredited agencies such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (AGME) and the American Osteopathic Association. Emergency Physicians with academic experience including the teaching of emergency medicine residents are preferred.
HOURS: The Emergency Department remains open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, throughout the entire year. The Emergency Physician will not be scheduled for more than a total of 40 hours per week and it is preferred no more than 3 consecutive shifts of 10 hours or more.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Residency Trained/Board Certified (BP/BC) in Emergency Medicine.
Furthermore a minimum of 50 percent of the contracted scheduled hours for each month must be covered by emergency physicians who have completed a residency in Emergency Medicine.
Possess an unrestricted license to practice medicine in any of the state of Virginina
DEA certification in a current status
BCLS, ACLS, PALS
Foreign medical graduate physicians shall possess a valid certificate from the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates.
DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to the following:
ER physicians shall perform the full range of medical services within the scope of Emergency Services or Acute Care. These shall be the same duties as those required of any active duty military or federal civil service Emergency Services physician or of similar experience and in similar duty assignments.
Unless affected by circumstances beyond his or her control, the ED physician is expected to see an average of 2.2 patients per hour.
While performing under this contract, a contract physician may be the sole provider of medical treatment in the Emergency Department during a scheduled shift. The contract provider shall be fully aware that, other than ancillary and support personnel, he or she shall be fully prepared to provide all of the emergency services required without assistance or supplementation by other MTF physicians.
Contract physicians performing services under this contract shall have sufficient experience to be able to adequately diagnose and treat diseases/injuries; perform medical procedures/tasks to include, but not limited to the following: diseases and/or injuries related to: Skin, Head, Eyes, Ears, Nose, Nose/Throat, Neck, Cardiovascular System, Gastrointestinal System, Lymphatic System, Musculoskeletal System, Genitourinary System, Reproductive System, Psychiatric Disease, Central Nervous System, Endocrine System, and Peripheral Nervous System.
Examine all eligible military healthcare system beneficiaries for emergency medical care to render a medical assessment of their condition, take appropriate action.
Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency patients as they present themselves for care.
Provide emergency medical care to both inpatients, if part of code team response, and outpatients, summon appropriate on-call specialists as necessary, and continue medical management until the arrival of the appropriate specialist.
Prepare and deliver resident lectures as required. Attend department grand rounds and other scheduled academic activities as required.
